Now… even amidst all this excitement, I can’t leave my weekly newsletter readers hanging.
This week, we’re talking about the Importance of Pushing Yourself Creatively.
I don’t know about you, but when I think about the creative people I look up to, there is a distinct difference between them and 99% of the creatives out there.
And it doesn’t have anything to do with talent, connections or money.
The creatives I look up to the most are the ones who use their artistic license to create something purely because they wanted to.
They challenge themselves by creating something completely different than they are used to.
No guarantee of praise or profit—just a drive to explore, experiment, and grow.
That’s a rare courage.
Because let’s be honest, we tend to play it safe.
We pick projects that we’re already good at or things we can pull off without too much trouble.
And I 100% get it.
As a creative, you want to complete projects in a cost-effective and time-efficient way.
After all, we got bills to pay.
So no judgment here.
We all need a certain amount of “safe” work so we can afford to live.
But what if you challenged yourself every so often to create something you’ve never had the courage (or the time) to try before?
Because the reality is “safe” work is less likely to get you noticed.
Can you build a reputation for doing one thing really well?
Absolutely.
But it usually doesn’t take long before others are doing the same thing as you and suddenly, your work isn’t as unique as it once was.
That’s why if you truly want to stand out, evolving and pushing yourself creatively is so important.
You have to seek out the discomfort and deliberately do things that stretch you beyond what feels easy or comfortable.
When you start a project that feels just slightly out of reach, you’re forced to dig deeper and use parts of yourself you didn’t know was there before.
You learn.
You adapt.
And every time, you walk away a little sharper and a little more confident.
Imagine if you let yourself lean into that discomfort, on purpose.
What could you create if you didn’t care about the outcome as much as the growth?
This week, I challenge you to come up with a new creative project that you want to tackle–something that feels just a bit intimidating.
And make it a goal to execute on it before the end of the year.
Now is the time to create that momentum for yourself as we head into 2025.
Let’s end this year with a bang 😉
You got this 👊🏼
