The "Secret Ingredient" You're Missing

The “Secret Ingredient” You’re Missing

“I don’t get it, what secret ingredient am I missing that will make me successful?”

I often find myself having conversations with others that are summed up in those exact words.

We’ve become a society that likes the idea of “finding” a solution to all of our problems, and once we find that missing ingredient, all of our problems will go away and all will be well in life.

We think buying one more course or watching one more YouTube video is going to give us the clarity we need to get “back on track.”

What if I told you you are already fully capable and equipped to live the life you’ve always wanted?

It’s no surprise why everyone deeply resonates with the “Zero to Hero” storyline.

You know what I’m talking about–The movies that show the main character who is labeled as a “nobody” that goes from living far below their potential but who gains the self-awareness to see what they are truly capable of which ends up driving them to take action where they struggle and persevere to where they finally become the “Hero” of their story.

So why do we like that storyline so much?

Because it reignites in us how truly capable we are!

I’d say the main reason why most people struggle to get where they want to go in life is twofold–A lack of self-awareness and a lack of action.

Choose to stop looking for a solution to all your problems and face your inner self while taking action towards your goals.

Self-Awareness comes from life experience and putting in the work, not from numbingly scrolling on your phone, hoping to find that secret ingredient that will motivate you to take action.

And I’m fully aware of the powerful impact an online course or a mentor can have on our lives.

But stopping all progress so that we can find that secret ingredient we’re missing is silly.

You’re not going to become the “Hero” of your story by sitting at home and googling for an answer.

You’re going to become the “Hero” of your story by taking those consistent steps forward that overtime will give you greater clarity around yourself and where to take the next step forward.

And as you keep moving forward, those mentors and “key ingredients” that you were originally searching for will naturally find their way to you.

Once you learn to fully embrace the journey instead of the final destination, you should feel confident in saying that “you made it.”

Get out there and go make things happen!

How a Love For Filmmaking Led to a Full Time Filmmaker Career

The story of Isaac Douglas

In 2019, when I first acquired my video camera, I was filled with ambition to create films, but lacked the foundational knowledge necessary to transform my passion into a profession. Even after attending film school (SEMO), where I anticipated finding clarity and direction, I found myself unsure of how to translate my education into a video business. It was like having all the ingredients to bake a cake but not knowing the recipe. So after getting married, I got a media job that I was not too fond of and seemingly moved away from filmmaking.

However, in December of 2022, my filmmaking journey took a transformative turn when I stumbled upon "Full Time Filmmaker" on YouTube. Their videos weren't just entertaining; It provided a roadmap to success in the realm of professional filmmaking. It honestly reignited my love for filmmaking. So, I started digging into their YouTube content, trying to soak up everything I could about filmmaking. That's when I realized I wanted to dive even deeper. They had this full course for sale, priced at $300, and I decided to go for it. It was a game-changer. Suddenly, I was learning about lighting, what gear to use, and how to run a video business. It was like someone had finally given me the keys to unlock my potential as a filmmaker.

Since I bought that course, my life has completely changed. I've started my own video business and made over $5,000 in just one month after applying what I learned. I've also connected with tons of other filmmakers on their included community groups, become a big name in my area, and even gotten hundreds of thousands of views on social media. Plus, I've built solid relationships with local businesses. Looking back, I'll never regret spending that money on the course. It's been worth every penny and then some, opening up a world of opportunities I never thought possible.

What advice would you give to someone getting started?

For those just starting out in filmmaking, my top advice is to learn from reliable sources like Full Time Filmmaker. Take advantage of their online resources and courses that break down filmmaking concepts in easy-to-understand ways. It's also crucial to stay passionate about what you're doing and be open to learning from mistakes and others along the way. Remember, becoming great at filmmaking takes time and effort, so don't get discouraged if things don't come together right away. Lastly, connect with other filmmakers and be open to collaborating—it's amazing what you can learn and achieve by working together with others who share your passion. With dedication and a willingness to learn, you'll be well on your way to making your filmmaking dreams a reality.
