The Hidden Threat To Your Creativity

“There’s about a 100% chance that every single person on planet earth is dealing with some type of internal struggle right now. The question is, how do we each get through it?”

Whether you want to admit it or not, we are all emotional and fragile human beings.

We each deal with hurt, disappointment, fear, wins, losses–And it can be a lot to handle.

Maybe it’s something you’ve bottled up for years and no one else knows about it.

Maybe it’s fresh this morning and it’s all you can think about.

Or maybe it’s just never-ending and you’re constantly struggling to be present in the moment.

Whatever it is for you, you aren’t alone.

We’re all busy, running businesses, chasing down projects, trying to stay inspired—all while dealing with, you know, life.

And somewhere along the way, we convince ourselves that the best way to keep moving is to push our feelings down and just power through.

But here’s what I’ve learned (the hard way): Bottling it all up doesn’t make you a better creative, and it definitely doesn’t make you stronger.

In fact, it does the exact opposite–It weighs you down.

I’ve been there.

And I want to share why getting those words out—whether by journaling or talking to a friend–Is one of the best things you can do for yourself as a creative entrepreneur.

Here are three big reasons why:

1. Your Mind Needs Room To Breathe

Your brain isn’t a bottomless pit for all the thoughts, emotions, and stresses you’re carrying.

It’s more like a backpack.

The more you stuff in there without unpacking it, the heavier it gets, and pretty soon, it’s hard to even move.

Journaling is like emptying that backpack.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.

You don’t even need to make sense.

Just dump those thoughts out onto paper (or a digital doc if that’s more your thing).

And suddenly?

You’ve got more space up there.

More room for ideas, for creativity, for the stuff that really matters.

It’s not about writing perfectly—it’s about getting the noise out so you can think clearly again.

2. When You Speak It, You Can See It

Ever have one of those moments where something feels huge in your head, but then the second you say it out loud, it’s like, “Wait, that’s it?”

Talking things out with someone you trust can make a world of difference.

When those thoughts are just bouncing around in your brain, they’re murky, tangled up with emotions and overthinking.

But when you speak them out loud, they start to make sense.

You can see them for what they really are.

Find someone you can open up to—whether it’s a fellow creative, a mentor, or a good friend.

You’d be amazed at how much lighter you’ll feel after a good, honest conversation.

3. Bottling It Up Drains Your Creativity

Here’s the thing—when you bottle up your emotions, they don’t just disappear.

They sit there, under the surface, draining your energy.

And the worst part?

You probably don’t even notice it until you’re feeling totally wiped out.

I used to think “toughing it out” made me more productive.

Turns out, it just made me more tired.

And when you’re exhausted from holding everything in, your creativity suffers.

Big time.

That’s why I swear by regular journaling and check-ins with my inner circle.

It’s like releasing steam from a pressure cooker.

You let it out, and suddenly, you’ve got room to breathe again.

You’re not fighting the weight of unspoken feelings, so you can focus on the creative stuff that lights you up.

Here’s What I Want You to Do

Take 5 minutes today.

Just 5.

Open up a notebook, pull up a doc, or call a friend.

Let it out—whatever’s on your mind.

It doesn’t have to be polished or profound.

It just has to be you.

Because here’s the truth: You don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

You don’t have to push through in silence.

There’s so much power in getting the words out—and your creativity will thank you for it.

Stay light, stay free, and keep creating.

You got this 👊🏼
