So What If The Odds Aren’t In Your Favor?
Can I ask you a question?
How many dreams, goals, or ideas have you quietly tucked away because the odds just didn’t seem in your favor?
Be honest.
That film you wanted to shoot, the business idea that kept you up at night, or that pivot you know you need to make but just… haven’t.
I get it.
It’s uncomfortable and honestly terrifying at times when you realize what actions you need to take in order to make your dreams a reality.
There’s no shortcut but through the hard.
The hard decisions, the hard sacrifices, the hard work–It’s a lot to handle.
And even with all that effort, you still don’t have a guarantee it’s all going to work out.
But I think when it comes down to it, Elon says it best:
"When something is important enough, you do it… even if the odds aren’t in your favor."
Let’s say the thing you’re shooting for falls flat on it’s face.
What now?
I’ve realized the hardest most trying times of my life where I often feel like a failure are the times I’m being molded into the next best version of myself.
And while a failure might sting in the short term, you are far more equipped to handle the hard and make hard decisions moving forward.
Ironically, the failure is what sets you up for success down the line.
Why do we all love stories of others who persevered through the hard and eventually came out on top?
You can’t help but be inspired, that’s why.
There’s something inside of us that is screaming for the right opportunity where we take the bull by the horns and make it all happen for ourselves.
But too many of us hesitate and lose out on an opportunity of a lifetime simply because you don’t feel “ready”.
Let me be the first to say…you are never “ready!”
The timing is never going to be perfect no matter how hard you try.
It all comes down to priorities.
When something truly matters to you—like, down-to-your-bones matters—you don’t calculate odds or if it’s convenient for you.
You act.
You move forward.
You figure it out.
Because the alternative?
Staying stuck, playing small, living a life half-lived?
That’s not an option for you.
Odds are for gamblers.
You’re a creator.
And as creators, we face odds all the time.
The odds of landing that dream client, getting your work seen by the right people, or even just finishing a project you’re proud of.
But the ones who succeed—the ones who build lives and businesses that make people sit up and pay attention—don’t obsess over the odds.
They’re the ones who feel the fear, hear the whispers of doubt, and take the shot anyway.
I get it, though.
Choosing what’s important enough to fight for is hard.
You’ve got a million ideas, a thousand obligations, and 24 hours in a day.
So how do you decide?
Here’s a little exercise:
Name Your Thing. What’s that one idea or project that, if you didn’t pursue it, would leave you filled with regret? That’s a clue it’s important enough.
Reframe the Odds. Instead of thinking, “What if I fail?” ask yourself, “What if I succeed?” Odds are just numbers, not destiny.
Get a Little Obsessed. You don’t have to Elon-level obsess, but make it your mission to chip away at your goal every day. No excuses, no distractions.
Stack Small Wins. Odds shift when you build momentum. Every step forward improves your chances. Every completed task is a vote for your future self.
This isn’t about being reckless.
It’s about being relentless.
Odds will always feel daunting when you’re standing at the bottom looking up.
But trust me, there’s something magical about taking that first step despite the uncertainty.
The view from the top?
Worth every stumble along the way😎
So, what’s important enough for you to do—even if the odds aren’t in your favor?
Pick it.
Start it.
Chase it.
Because waiting for the stars to align is just a slower way of staying stuck😉
You got this👊🏼
