Just Help People

When you give yourself a strong foundation— better yet, a MACHINE that’ll keep your business or passion running smoothly, even when you’re not there... Then provide solutions for people.

Just Help People

“Start focusing on yourself.”

This seems to be a common phrase plastered all over social media and it’s well received by most.

Do I think there’s a lot of value in zeroing in on your goals and focusing on becoming the best version of yourself?

Absolutely.

But you can only focus on yourself for so long before you begin to question why you aren’t happy or fulfilled.

The best way I know how to do work that is fulfilling to me is by first doing something that I’m passionate about, and secondly, monetizing that passion by helping others.

Now I get it, the word “monetization” can feel icky sometimes– like you’re one of those greasy-haired used-car salesmen out to rip people off.

But I’ve found that people who are truly passionate about what they do also tend to do the best work out of anybody.

And when you mix together that passion for your work and a passion for helping other people, you’ve just hit the jackpot.

Samuel Hansen is a creator who I think does this very well.

He started out as a videographer shooting weddings on the weekends, and he was doing well for himself.

But when he wasn’t shooting weddings, he found himself shooting guns.

And he gained a passion for it– so much so that he started building and teaching people about how to guns on his YouTube channel.

He made his motive very clear: “To preserve innocent life.”

That mission statement is what drives him to create his videos— it’s also why he’s able to resonate so well with his audience and build a devoted following.

When your focus is to ‘help people’…

You’re going to find purpose in your work.

Right after I acquired Full Time Filmmaker, I swapped out my phone wallpaper with some positive affirmations…

One of them is “Set up the systems, then help people.”

Give yourself a strong foundation— better yet, a MACHINE that’ll keep your business or passion running smoothly, even when you’re not there…

Then provide solutions for people.

It shifts the focus from “How can I make money today,” to “How can I serve others today?”

And I give that simple mindset shift a lot of the credit for why I am where I am today.

So yes, focus on you and being the best you can be, but don’t forget about the other component of a happy and fulfilling life…

Helping others.
