Fear Should Wake You Up

Fear Should Wake You Up

ā€œIā€™ve had some serious setbacks in both my personal and professional life, and I honestly feel frozen with fear, like the weight of each setback is just soul crushing to me and I have no idea what to do.ā€

Let me just say, Iā€™ve been there.

Iā€™ve had the job setbacks and the overdue bills.

Iā€™ve gone through seasons of questioning myself and my abilities.

Iā€™ve felt the weight of responsibility that comes with being a husband, a father and a boss.

Iā€™ve felt a lot of thingsā€“To the point where fear has almost shut me down.

And you know what?

I donā€™t think it ever ends.

All of us will face setbacks and moments of fear throughout our lives.

But I think we can prepare ourselves better for those moments when fear comes our way.

Here are some things that have worked for me:

  1. Let Fear Be The Motivator That Wakes You Up!

Sounds simple I know, but consciously choosing to let fear wake me up instead of shutting me down has been a huge game changer.

When Iā€™ve reacted to fear, Iā€™ve found myself in a dark, helpless place feeling bad for myself.

But when Iā€™ve intentionally decided to use fear as my motivator, I suddenly donā€™t feel as stuck as I did before.

This isnā€™t to say that you shouldnā€™t take some time to process what youā€™re feeling, because I donā€™t think it helps to bottle it up.

But be cautious, this can be a slippery slope that ultimately ends in self pity if you arenā€™t careful.

I always allow myself to feel all the emotions, then I get to work.

Which brings me to my next pointā€¦

  1. Take Some Time To Clear Your Head

Often times when fear smacks me in the face, I know exactly what I need to do and I just need to push myself to go do it.

But other times, my mind is in overdrive trying to come up with a solution, and thatā€™s where writing everything out on paper or a white board has helped me think more clearly and make a plan of action.

This act of writing things out has proven to bring out the problem solver in me and has helped me find a solution quicker.

Instead of thinking about all the things completely out of your control, make a written list of what you CAN control.

What can you do right now to take action?

Which brings me to my last pointā€¦

  1. Give Fear Everything You Got

I think too often, people let fear be the reason that they fall back.

They let their emotions get the best of them and they let fear take control of their life.

Or they decide to bottle it all up and sweep all their problems under the rug until they have grown it into something that requires asking for someone elseā€™s help.

But it doesnā€™t have to be that way.

Donā€™t let fear be the reason you fall back.

Let fear be the reason that you go ALL IN!

As hard as facing fear can be today, it can be even harder the longer you wait.

So choose right now to give fear all that you got and take back control of your life!

Your older self will be glad you did.

Your New Go-To Lighting Source

Weā€™re excited to announce new Westcott member benefits including this exclusive discount code ā€œFTF1024ā€ to get 10% Off all their products at checkout.

One of our favorite products of Westcott is their Scrim Jim Cine Kit. We use it daily to light our shoots in both our Studio and on the go.

With the Wescott Scrim Jim Cine you can easily adjust the size and intensity of the scrim itself which isnā€™t typical of your usual scrim.  And unlike a soft box thereā€™s a variety of different fabrics to attach to give you the look you desire.

By diffusing harsh light sources, it minimizes harsh shadows and reduces contrast, resulting in beautifully flattering illumination that enhances your subject's features and textures.

The Scrim gives you flexibility on where you place it, whether you're shooting portraits, product, or anything in between, a well-placed scrim can change the way your footage is captured. Westcott is an awesome option for all lighting gear just like this!

And donā€™t forget to use ā€œFTF1024ā€ to save 10% at checkout!

Gerald Undone released a video this last week on what many creators have thought but have been hesitant to sayā€“Camera reviews need to change.

His thoughts particularly focus on the relationship between content creators and camera brands and how our thoughts and opinions about these products are heavily influenced by the brands themselves.

He says while being invited to exotic locations and receiving special treatment as a camera reviewer can be nice, it often thwarts content creators in providing genuine balanced reviews that actually list off both the pros AND the cons of the product they are reviewing.

We found this video to be a refreshing take on a topic that not many are willing to bring up.
