5 Steps to Stop Procrastination
“I feel like I’m pretty disciplined with my time and I put in the hours but I’m still not anywhere close to achieving the goals I want. Am I missing something?”
I totally get the frustration.
You’re juggling projects, answering emails, managing your social media, doing your best to be present for your family all while trying to be healthy and get a good workout in and yet nothing great seems to be happening.
You’re busy—but are you moving forward?
One thing I’ve realized is sometimes busy feels productive, but it’s often just a comfortable distraction.
These days it’s far too easy to spend time on average tasks that give you little to no results.
So here are five key ways to help you cut through the noise and take charge of your life and your business:
1. Identify What Truly Matters to You
Not every task on your list holds equal weight.
Some things are urgent but not important, while others are deeply important but often neglected.
The key is to focus on the activities that truly matter to you.
Here's how to find your focus:
Make a list of everything you’ve been trying to tackle lately.
Now, rank each one by its true impact. Which of these things would bring you closer to the life you want?
Start with that task, project, or goal. The rest is often just noise.
Sounds simple I know, but it can make a huge difference.
2. Confront What You're Avoiding
Let’s be honest: the work that leads to real growth is often the work we avoid.
It might be the tough conversation you’ve been putting off, the fitness routine you haven’t committed to, or the outreach you haven’t done for your business.
This quote gave me a new perspective on time management when I first heard it:
"The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding."
It’s in that phone call you’ve been dreading, the boundaries you need to set, or the habit you know you need to break.
It’s scary because it matters.
So, lean into it.
It might just be the secret sauce you’ve been looking for all along.
3. Learn to Let Go
You can't (and shouldn’t) do it all.
Life isn't about juggling every single ball perfectly—it's about knowing which ones you need to hold on to and which ones you can let drop.
It’s ok to ask for help.
Whether it's sharing responsibilities at home, setting clearer boundaries with friends, or delegating in your business, you don’t have to carry everything alone.
And while you may ask others to take on something that is overwhelming to you, be mindful of doing the same for them.
Some things we need to face on our own, but others we can share the load together🙂
4. Create Time for Deep Work (or Deep Rest)
Life isn't just about checking those tasks off the to-do list.
I find the real enjoyment and fulfillment in my work often comes from simply connecting deeply with what I’m doing.
Setting aside time for deep work where I can really hone in on one task without any distractions can be incredibly empowering.
On the flip side, maybe it’s time for some deep rest.
Rest is productive too.
We aren’t built to go non-stop all the time.
We all need deep rest and deep work to be the most effective version of ourselves.
So make it point to recover fully and focus fully (without your phone).
It’s a game changer.
5. Act Like The CEO That You Are
It’s easy to let life happen to you—just reacting to whatever comes your way.
But when you prioritize what truly matters, confront the things you’re avoiding, and create space for rest or focus, you shift into a more empowered mindset.
This shift changes everything.
It’s when you stop living on autopilot and start making intentional choices that align with your core values and goals.
This week, I challenge you: pick one thing you’ve been avoiding that you know will bring you closer to the life you want and start there.
Remember, real change doesn’t come from being busy—it comes from being intentional.
That’s another reason why I’m pumped about OVERLAY.
