3 Ways To Reach "Creative Freedom"

“I feel stuck in my creative journey. I don’t feel like I’m making significant progress towards the life I want to live and doing the creative work that I actually want to do. How can I change this?”

First of all, just know that most creative entrepreneurs have gone through and may still be going through this.

We each have to put in the work and endure all the lows (sometimes to our breaking point) until we start making some headway in the direction we want to go.

You may look at other creators and think they have it all figured out.

That’s a complete lie.

In reality, nobody knows what they’re doing— but the successful ones do it anyway.

If you go to work with the mindset that everything is ‘figureoutable’, and that you don’t need all the answers to make real progress towards your goals, you will be unstoppable.

Way too many people spend years looking for a perfectly crafted solution or guide that will hopefully get them where they want to go, and this is why they continue to be in the same spot year after year.

The ones who live the life you admire are the ones who have gone all-in on figuring it out as they go.

So stop waiting for the ‘perfect’ time to make your dream life happen.

Get out there and let your determination and hunger push you to figuring it out as you go.

Now, here are 3 ways you can go about creating a life that gives you the creative freedom you are seeking:

  1. You Are The Content

Some of the most influential creators out there have literally made a living by just being themselves.

Sure, their content may be a cinematic masterpiece.

Or maybe it’s just fun to watch.

Either way, these creators have mastered the art of showcasing their personalities in their content more than anything.

And this is what keeps people coming back for more.

Cody Ko is a good example of this.

He makes stuff purely because he wants to do it.

It’s anything but mundane work for him.

If he wants to try a new creative outlet, he goes for it.

From being a YouTuber, to having a podcast, to making music, to being a comedian–You could say Cody is well-rounded.

And people love him for it.

Now this is far from the conventional route that most people take, and it may even be risky.

But when you decide to not let anyone dictate what you create and you stick with whatever resonates with the real you, that’s creative freedom.

If this sounds like you, maybe it’s time you take the leap and start making content around your authentic personality.

  1. The Side Hustler

The majority of creators have been here.

Maybe you are currently doing projects that you are far from passionate about, but you do them anyways to pay the bills or to master your craft.

And in your off hours, you make the time to work on your true passion projects.

The majority of successful entrepreneurs in their early days went through the juggle of doing their ‘day job’ while they got their new business off the ground.

This may take some extra patience and nights of working extra late, but if you stick with it, your ‘passion project’ can ultimately end up being your full time gig.

Tech giants like Apple, Instagram and Facebook, originally started as a side project that turned into a behemoth all on it’s own.

The cool thing about the creator economy, is that scaling a brand has never been easier than it is right now.

You have the power to make an income and an impact that others can only dream of, all while being a creator.

Plenty of creative entrepreneurs have started with video as their medium to get their face out into the world and then they expand to starting other businesses with their brand name attached to it.

Whether you like him or not, Logan Paul is one who used his personal brand to launch his insanely successful Prime drinks that now directly compete with massive brands like Gatorade and Bodyarmor.

What I’m getting at here is you can be as big or as little as you want.

There’s no right answer, it’s all about what YOU want.

You just need to decide that for yourself.

  1. Become Known For Your Unique Style

Imagine having a reputation for creating a specific style of content and that’s exactly what others hire you to create.

Zach King is a good example of this.

He is known for his editing skills that has allowed him to create his ‘illusionist’ and ‘magic trick’ style videos that have garnered him millions of followers over the years.

And whatever potential clients reach out to him know exactly what kind of quality and style of content they can expect by working with him.

Maybe you have a unique style that you are passionate about.

Is this something people already know you for?

If not, maybe it’s time you go all-in on making sure they do.

Instead of taking on all of those clients or video projects that don’t align with your style, choose to go with the opportunities that do.

And be assertive in making that clear with all who you work with.

The more you create and put out your style of content that you actually want to make, the more you’ll find others directly linking that style with you.

That’s when your brand becomes synonymous with who you are in the eyes of your viewers and potential clients, which keeps you top of mind when they are ready to watch your content or work with you.

So there you go.

Wherever you are at your creative entrepreneur journey, I hope this helped you in some way.

It’s not easy to create a life with true creative freedom, but I say it’s always worth it.

Happy Creatiive Coaching was started for that exact reason–Being a creative isn’t easy but it’s far easier when you have others supporting you along the way.

Just know you aren’t alone in the struggle.

And you know what?

The struggle never stops.

That’s the reality of life.

Doesn’t matter how ‘successful’ you become, there will always be another hurdle to jump over.

Happy Monday. Now get after it đŸ‘ŠđŸŒ
