3 Reasons the iPhone Camera is Better Than You Realize…
About a week ago, I posted this on Threads:
It had a mostly positive response, but I did get one response that was just “😑💩” — probably an android user.
Now, let me clarify— the iPhone is NOT the best camera ever made. It’s just not… and I’m sure we can all agree on that.
It IS, however, my FAVORITE camera… and there’s three reasons why:
#1: It’s always on me.
Can you think of a more portable camera than one that’s literally built into the rectangle that you walk around with all day?
I’m a dad— as you probably know at this point— and one of the most important things to me is making sure that my kids’ lives aren’t only documented, but captured in the most simple, beautiful way.
I have only a few shaky home videos of myself when I was younger…
And for most of us— that’s just how it was. Technology wasn’t nearly as portable and capable as it is now.
So even though it’s more CONVENIENT to take quick videos of our kids on our iPhones— we can always take it a step further than most people and make it extra special (and cinematic).
#2: It’s super easy to use.
I’ve been a professional filmmaker/videographer/creator— whatever you wanna call it— for the last decade…
So I KNOW how to use professional camera equipment…
But it doesn’t mean I like it 😂
Like everyone, I’m a little lazy. I could obviously pull out the FX3 or some other cinema camera, but most of the time, I just want to get straight to shooting.
No big lens change, no swapping out batteries, accidentally formatting SD cards… (it’s okay, we’ve all done it)
And most of the time on iPhone— no manual camera settings.
Sometimes, depending on what I’m shooting, I’ll use the Blackmagic Camera App to dial in mny shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and so on EXACTLY.
But most of the time, I just use the native iPhone camera app…
Which makes iPhone shooting IDEAL for beginner videographers.
You’ve just gotta learn a few basic things, plug in a few simple settings, and then you’re good to go.
#3: It’s budget-friendly.
Now, before you roll your eyes and think to yourself…

Remember— you’re gonna own an iPhone anyway.
There’s like an 80% chance you already do 😂
Let’s say, for example, that you were going to get a base model iPhone for normal use. Texting, social media, FaceTime, etc.
A base model iPhone is $799.
The Pro model with an upgraded camera? $999.
So really, in essence, you’re spending $200 on a very capable camera, as opposed to thousands on a professional mirrorless from Sony or Canon.
And for the record— you don’t need a Pro iPhone (or even the latest model) to make insanely high-quality videos.
Obviously, I recommend upgrading (especially if it’s time for an upgrade anyway)…
But in Pocket Filmmaker, I show you how to use the iPhone you already have.
And this week only, you can join Pocket Filmmaker with Early-Bird Access for 80% off.
That’s only 40 bucks.
In this economy, that’s like a quick trip to the grocery store 😂
Since yesterday, more than 250 people have already enrolled…
So don’t sleep on it. Discount ends in…
See you inside!
